Now, living in regional Australia, we don’t have a Cinnabon anywhere near us. But my eight-year-old son absolutely loves the place whenever we visit the city — he can’t get enough of those cinnamon swirled treats. So when I heard Woolies is teaming up with Cinnabon for a limited edition cake, I immediately knew this would be something to get excited about. Finally, a slice of that famous Cinnabon magic closer to home!
The Cake Everyone’s Talking About
Hitting Woolworths shelves from 29 October, the new Cinnabon Cake promises all the warm, spiced sweetness of the iconic American bakery — no passport required. It’s a light sponge layered with Cinnabon’s signature cinnamon swirl and topped with a thick, creamy frosting that’s said to taste just like the brand’s famous cream cheese icing.
Woolies describes it as “a flavour-packed cake that celebrates the iconic flavour that’s made Cinnabon a global success.” At just $10, it’s also a pretty tempting way to spice up an afternoon tea or weekend dessert.
The Internet’s Already Obsessed
Food reviewers have been quick to get their hands on early samples, and the reactions have been overwhelmingly positive. Snack reviewer @snackreviews_aus said the frosting was so good she “wanted to eat it by itself,” while chef and food blogger Nick Vavitis teamed up with Nectorious Papi to call it “the best cake Woolies has ever had.”
That’s a big call, considering the humble Woolies mud cake has been an Aussie party staple for decades.
Riding the Sweet Success of the Hot Cross Buns
This collaboration follows the wild popularity of the Cinnabon Hot Cross Buns earlier this year, which sold over 300,000 packets nationwide. So, it’s safe to say Woolies knows a winning flavour when it sees one — and if the buns were anything to go by, these cakes are going to vanish fast.

The Cinnabon Cake will be available at Woolworths supermarkets and Metro stores across Australia from 29 October for a limited time only.
So, while I haven’t had the chance to try it just yet, you can bet I’ll be lining up to grab one as soon as it hits shelves. If the reviews are anything to go by, my son — and every other cinnamon lover in the country — is in for a real treat.
