Accused had motive to kill wife: court

Taspol

A Supreme Court jury has been told to dismiss emotions surrounding the troubled marriage involving a man accused of shooting dead his wife in Hobart.

Klaus Dieter Neubert, 74, has pleaded not guilty to murdering 37-year-old Olga Neubert in May 2015 by firing a sawn-off rifle repeatedly into her car, also allegedly injuring a passenger.

"The accused was despairing and in a rage with his wife. This was brought about by the fact that he was humiliated by her after she left him for another man," prosecutor Daryl Coates SC said in summing up the case on Tuesday.
