Boosted police powers to enforce Tasmania's self-isolation rules are expected to pass State Parliament on Thursday.
It's among a suite of coronavirus measures which passed the House of Assembly yesterday, also including temporary bans on commercial and private landlords evicting evictions for rental arrears.
Self-isolation has been on the government's radar after widespread reports people currently holidaying here are ignoring requirements.
Commissioner Darren Hine says it won't be tolerated.
"Police officers will be going around checking on those people who are in self-isolation," he said.
"We'll be doing random checks, to not only check on them to make sure they're ok and don't need any assistance, but also that they're doing the right thing."
The Premier told Thursday morning's coronavirus update press conference that police are yet to identify and fine any flagrant offenders.
