The whine of illegal trail bike riding is an all-too-familiar sound around certain areas north of Hobart, and police are concerned it's just a matter of time before someone's killed or seriously injured.
Officers seized three bikes yesterday after reports of illegal riding at Bridgewater and Gagebrook.
Legitimate riders have decried the bad name they're getting from hoons who show no regard for the law, even videoing themselves giving police the slip.
"Police will continue to take these matters seriously,” Sergeant Jason Klug said.
“Police remind the public that using a motor vehicle for a recreational purpose within 500 metres of a domestic premises is an offence.”
