Landcare fund deadline

The window for the first round of grants in Tasmania's Landcare Action Programme is closing at the end of the month, so the word is, get in quickly.

$1.8 million across four years was allocated to the scheme in last year's state budget.

Nick Steel from the Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association explains the sort of projects applicants could think about.

"So vegetation near rivers, potentially around removing weeds, you can fence off protected natural values on your farms, controlling pest animals, improving ground cover, so it's very broad. Application forms are fairly easy, so it's providing the details, providing a budget, it's providing the key areas where you are looking to apply for, we are there to assist them through that process, so if there are any issues you can contact the TFGA and we can work through it with them."

Up to $5000 is available per project.
