Voters in Braddon will be voting against the candidate they like least rather than one they support according to a new study.
The Voter Choice Project has been surveying voters on how they feel ahead of the upcoming by-election.
Researcher Raphaella Kathryn Crosby says the results have been overwhelmingly negative on both sides.
"They're saying about Brett Whiteley 'we got rid of this guy, we've already had a go at him, we don't want him again'," she said.
"With Justine Keay they're saying 'well she stuffed up, she wasn't honest about her citizenship and we're not really sure that we want a go at her again'.
"It's a really unusual by-election because they've had a chance to try out both of these candidates.
