A new food festival is bound for Launceston next month.

Titled North, the festival runs from October 13 - 17 across local hospitality venues.

The festival is a collaboration between Eat It Tassie, Cityprom, Launceston Gastronomy, Eat Well Tsamania, FermentTAS and a variety of hospitality venues.

According to Cityprom Marketing Manager Larissa Murray, the aim is for the festival to be an annual event.

Executive Officer Amanda McEvoy says Launcestonians are spoilt for choice with new cafes and restaurants opening in the centre of the city.

"This is an opportunity for them to put on a special event and for the public to get out and explore Launceston on foot and attend unique events and discover new locations," she said.

“The festival further secures Launceston’s reputation as a food and wine destination, in line with the bid to become a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy.

The festival includes one off events as well as the re-imagining of old events, by popular eateries including Alchemy and Earthy Eats.

More information and tickets are available via the website.
