An extra $5 million of voucher subsidies for Tasmanians to holiday in their home state has been unveiled, following the runaway uptake of the first round.
The latest stimulus, involving $100 towards accommodation and $50 for tourism experiences, becomes available from 7pm next Wednesday (September 30).
Premier Gutwein telling parliament, the scheme is proving a major winner.
"By getting out and about using the vouchers, Tasmanians are supporting other areas of our economy, our small businesses in the regions, the cafes, the pubs, retail outlets, petrol stations and local services. There is also the important social community aspect, the ability for us all to connect once again with each other."
The first $7.5 million round which went live online at 9am on September 7th was fully subscribed in 40 minutes, leaving many who missed out disgruntled about the way it was executed.
It is hoped the new evening offering and the option of calling a hotline will level the playing field.
