Today (Tuesday) has marked the official re-opening of Zeehan’s Avebury Nickel Mine on Tasmania’s West Coast ending its 13 years mothballed caused by low prices in 2009 for the commodity.
Mallee Resources has employed 150 workers with a view to increasing that to 200 by the end of the year.
Battery grade nickel from the mine will be exported to Canada and China for smelting, with the market bouncing back due to the needs of the electric vehicle industry which is in a major growth phase globally.
