Tasmania Police is reminding motorists to plan ahead this season, and not get behind the wheel under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
It comes after a Trevallyn woman recorded a breath alcohol reading of 0.130 following a crash at Riverside on Tuesday evening.
The 75 year old allegedly struck a parked 2020 Nissan SUV with a blue 2007 Honda sedan on Reatta Road. Both vehicles were severely damaged in the incident.
She was arrested and charged with high range drink driving offenses, and has been bailed to appear before the Launceston Magistrate’s Court in February.
“Here is another unacceptable example of a driver that has been willing to risk her licence, her safety, and the safety of others by drink driving,” said Sergeant Gavin Chugg. “The festive season is a time where many people are celebrating – remember to plan ahead, don’t drink or drug drive. Police will be out in force over the festive season conducting high visibility patrols and random drug and alcohol testing – but we need you to play your part to help keep our community safe.”
