A man’s in custody on an attempted murder charge after allegedly attacking a woman with an axe at Penguin earlier this week.
Police were called to a South Road address on Tuesday evening and found the woman who’d sustained wounds.
The 54-year-old accused was arrested at the scene and has been remanded in custody after a Devonport Magistrates Court appearance.

Charges of burglary, wounding and a family violence order breach are also being pressed.
The public is being assured it was an isolated incident between parties known to each other.
