City Football Club 100-year Reunion
Centenary and Final Reunion
An update on the progress of the reunion. We are extremely pleased with the response so far, attendance is exceeding our expectations. So, make sure that if you are interested you let us know asap, don’t miss out, it is the last ever.
When: Friday and Saturday 10th & 11th May 2024
Where: Queenstown Club – Friday 10th May at 7pm
Railway Hotel (Formerly Commercial Hotel) – Saturday 11th May at 7pm
The date coincides with City’s first game in 1924.
Friday May 10. Informal get together at the Queenstown Club, Orr street starting at 7pm. Normal bar operations by the Queenstown Club and mix with usual patrons of the club. (Not exclusively booked for the reunion)
Saturday May 11. This is the formal reunion evening and venue is the Railway Hotel in Driffield street. This was formerly the Commercial Hotel which was the City Football Clubs hotel of choice. They have seating capacity for 70 people, and this will be the function room for the reunion formalities.
For those who wish to dine there, the Hotel will be serving their regular counter meal menu prior to the function. This would be a convenient option as it is the venue for the reunion. Please let us know if you would take up this option as we want to provide the Hotel with an indication of numbers for dining. Also let us know if you would like to reserve a group table.
Football game. On Saturday afternoon the Queenstown Crows (the culmination of the Smelters, Lyell, Gormanston and City teams of the WTFA) will be playing a game on the famous gravel oval versus the Ridgley Saints. For those who wish to attend, I am sure they will welcome you with open arms at the ground and Clubrooms.
Pam Hine has offered to organise a light lunch on the Saturday for any ladies who may not wish to attend the football game. Again, we would like to know attendance numbers for this.
