If you thought Ludo Studio was only about a certain cartoon dog that has taken over the world, think again. The creative minds behind the global smash hit Bluey are branching out into live-action, and their new feature film Allen is heading straight to Netflix.
The first trailer just dropped, and it gives us a look at a sci-fi comedy that feels nostalgic and fresh at the same time. The story follows Petey, a boy growing up in Queensland who had the ultimate childhood best friend: an alien named Allen. One day, Allen disappeared without a word.
Fast forward twenty years, and Allen has suddenly returned. But this is not just a simple reunion. The alien is hiding a secret that could literally change the world, forcing a now-adult Petey to finally grow up and help save the day.
Directed by Daley Pearson and Jeffrey Walker, the film stars a solid lineup of talent, including Charlotte Nicdao, T.J. Power, and Josh Helman. It is a big step for the Australian studio, proving they have plenty of creative ideas outside of animation.
If you are looking for a fun movie night with a mix of heart, aliens, and world-saving stakes, mark your calendar. Allen lands globally on Netflix on November 12.
