Hospitality Tasmania’s latest tourism accommodation report finds statewide occupancy of just over 62% for July, similar to the level across the past four years.
Our East Coast improved the most and its yield rose by around $20 to $143, with events credited for driving results.
Hospitality Tasmania CEO Steve Old said the East Coast result was encouraging during what remained a difficult period of the year for hospitality and tourism businesses.
“Winter is always a challenging period for our accommodation operators, so to see the East Coast record such a strong improvement compared with last year is certainly encouraging,” Mr Old said.
The South remained the strongest with occupancy at nearly 69%, the North at around 66%, while the North west struggled, down 7% to roughly 46%.
