Port to Post – Strahan June 19 and 20

This winter, Light up the West – Strahan Solstice presents Port to Post – a sound and light projection mapped onto the historic Customs House in Strahan.

Part of Light up the West – Strahan Solstice, this unique sound and light projection brings together light, sound and storytelling, exploring Strahan’s maritime history, natural beauty and the resilient spirit of its people.

Strahan’s Customs House comes alive with a large-scale projection show that dives into the town’s role as a connector – past and present. From its days as the West Coast’s lifeline before roads, to moments like the Franklin Blockade, this show explores the stories that have shaped the region.

Through breath-taking visuals and an immersive soundscape, Port to Post traces Strahan’s history of conflict, connection and community. Created by artist Alex Moss, this is a free event that invites you to see Strahan in a whole new light.

Artist’s words: “Port and Post explores conflict and connection through Strahan’s maritime heritage and the web-like network its post office represents. Once the West Coast’s vital link before roads, its customs house hosted the Franklin Blockade – an event that epitomises both division and unity, echoing the town’s enduring role as a connector. Port and Post will contrast and combine historic conflicts and current connections.”
