Unstoppable 24 Schools Movement Challenge

Finding a way to get kids away from screens and moving is a challenge most parents and teachers face daily. With recent data showing that a staggering 70% of Australian children aged between 2 and 17 are not meeting standard daily physical activity guidelines, the situation requires more than just gentle encouragement.

Enter the Unstoppable 24 Schools Movement Challenge. Spearheaded by youth wellbeing charity Kulture Break, this free initiative has just secured some major star power. Socceroos goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne, nationally celebrated as the “Grey Wiggle” after his legendary penalty-shootout performance during the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, has teamed up with fitness expert Michelle Bridges to get Australian students active.

The Power of 24 Minutes

Scheduled to run this September, the digital program challenges primary and secondary students to commit to 24 minutes of physical activity every day for five days. The concept is straightforward: give teachers a completely plug-and-play toolkit that requires zero prior lesson planning, while providing students with daily movement guides, interactive tasks, and genuine incentives.

For Redmayne, the cause hits incredibly close to home. Long before he was standing between the goalposts on the world stage, he was raised in a household where education and physical health went hand in hand.

“Growing up with parents who were teachers showed me early on that movement isn’t just ‘nice to have’—it completely changes how kids show up in the classroom,” Redmayne shared. “It builds confidence, routine, and resilience. I’ve lived that as a student, as a teacher-in-training, in sport, and now as a parent, and I want young people to feel those benefits every single day.”

With a primary teaching degree under his belt alongside his elite sporting credentials, the professional goalkeeper understands the distinct relationship between physical activity and academic focus.

Breaking the Cycle of Inactivity

Since 2002, Kulture Break has utilised movement-based resilience programs to support more than 500,000 students across the country and overseas. Founder and Chief Executive Officer Francis Owusu believes that Redmayne’s unique journey offers the ideal blueprint for the next generation.

“Andrew’s journey reflects the confidence, connection, and resilience we want young people to experience every day,” Owusu noted. “His commitment to education and his understanding of what students need to thrive make him an important voice in this year’s challenge.”

The program arrives at a critical juncture for youth mental health, where early intervention is increasingly vital. According to data supported by the challenge, half of all long-term mental health struggles are established by age 14. Incorporating brief, structured bursts of exercise into the school calendar is a proven method to lower stress, improve cognitive function, and build social bonds.

To spark early momentum, Kulture Break has introduced an exclusive incentive for early bird registrations. The first 50 schools to sign up for the free initiative will enter a draw to win an in-person visit from Redmayne this June.

The winning campus will host the Socceroos star for a practical skills session, a presentation centered on healthy routines, and an open student question-and-answer forum covering elite sport and daily wellbeing practices.

Registrations are currently open to all Australian primary and secondary campuses. Educators looking to bring the initiative to their classrooms can sign up directly at unstoppable24mc.com. Official entries for the early registration competition close at 11:59pm AEST on Friday, 19 June 2026.
