Elderly man pinned under tractor

An elderly man is in a critical condition after becoming pinned underneath his tractor for several hours on the north west coast.

Police say the 90 year old became trapped underneath his tractor on his farm at Nietta near Ulverstone around 7:30 last night. A family member found him hours later, alerting emergency crews who had to use heavy equipment to remove the tractor before he could be treated at the scene. He was then airlifted to the Launceston General with serious injuries.

His current condition is not known at this stage.
